Fight Fit

Why not compliment your martial arts training with an increase in strength and stamina? Newcastle Karate will be host to a new cardio based boxing class as well as the introduction of a strength based group fitness class. The new classes will be aimed at improving your cardio vascular system to maximise your Vo2 max while building lean muscle and losing those unwanted kilos.


How will weight training help me as a martial artist?

The goal of the martial artist should be to lift weights for athletic gains, in the same way a professional athlete weight trains. The program should be formulated in such a way that it helps promote functional movement.

By lifting weights, a martial artist is building a strong muscular and physical foundation, in order to perform technique more efficiently and in the most optimal way.

“Weight lifting can help athletes in any sport, including the martial arts. The more strength and size you have, the better you will perform. If two people weigh the same, the one with more muscle can hit harder.”



This class is a boxing based program that targets cardio vascular endurance. Through the use of basic punch combos and kicks, you will push your body to the limit in an effort to increase your Vo2 max (a measure of the maximum volume of oxygen that an athlete can use). It is a perfect program for people who want to get active, lose unwanted weight or improve stamina in their martial arts training.


Fight Strong

A strength based group fitness class designed to build strength through a range of compound and functional movements. Fight Strong is the perfect addition to your martial arts training and building lean muscle mass. We use a range of different equipment targeted to each muscle group, so you can really feel your body working. All levels are welcome and it is a great class to meet like minded people on a similar journey.
