Ladies Kickboxing

With the success of the Newcastle Karate program, we have had many requests from families for a specific program for ladies. While we have a large number of ladies already in our karate classes, some ladies really are not quite ready to put on a karate uniform and learn karate. As a result we developed the ladies only kickboxing class and it has had an overwhelming response by ladies aged between 18-55.

The class program changes every week to keep you on your toes but at the same time develops some really useful skills such as self defence and self defence awareness. The program starts with a traditional limber up, then straight into a solid set of cardio drills specific to martial arts. There is nothing better than burning fat whilst having an absolute ball! Our striking drills isolate the muscles of the arms and legs improving muscle tone. Once fired up we then move in to hand striking with specific kickboxing combination sets which include blocking, ducking and weaving counter attacks. Once a few round are done with your partner and the interim round exercises are complete, we then transfer in to kicking techniques which will completely exhaust your legs and butt!

After a quick drink we then spend 5 mins on self defence for habitual acts of violence. Some examples of these are: Two and handed push, two handed front choke, single and double wrist grabs, bear hug from front of behind, various punching attacks, single and double shoulder grabs, front and back hair grab, head lock, multiple attackers. Once the self defence drill for the night has been completed a few times and the giggles have subsided we then conclude the class with a traditional Seri Undo “warm down” to assist those muscles just exhausted a speedy recovery.
